Russian scientists know better, how to diagnose skin cancer.
Scientists team from Samara national research university, Samara State Medical University with a support of regional cancer dispensary developed an innovative procedure complex for skin cancer early diagnosis. These methods, tested by scientists, allow to increase the efficiency of decease detection by 30-40% (From 50-60% to 97%).
The complex consist of three medical devices, each of them is implementing comparative research of optical characteristics of healthy skin and exposed by pathological changes parts areas of skin. So, comparing and interpreting images in different specters, scientists are able to conduct an analysis of tumors within health safe sources of laser radiation of various length.
Methods are developed from the system of spectroscopic analysis of the affected areas of skin, created by laser and biotechnical department of Samara university, the interpretation of data received was developed by oncology department of Samara Med University.
The trials result can be reviewed at Journal of Biomedical Optics in the article “Combined Raman and autofluorescence ex vivo diagnostics of skin cancer in NIR and visible regions”.
